Trickle-down may still be a controversial economic theory, but as a principle of technological advancement, it is well documented. The first Wilson Audio loudspeaker to benefit from the insights gained in Alexandria's creation is the MAXX Series 2.
Those benefits include new internal cabinet structure, a new tweeter, a new mid range crossover, a refined bass crossover, and a new two-piece grill with new attachment hardware.
New Tweeter
A new tweeter creates significant improvements in high frequency linearity and reduction of coloration and noise.
New Mid/Tweeter Crossover
A new crossover uses propietary time-jitter correcting technology first developed for the Alexandria. In the critical mid and upper midrange frequencies, the new MAXX now approaches the level of sweetness, clarity, and transparency that makes the Alexandria X-2 such a stunning achievement.
Redesigned Crossover
A redesigned bass crossover improves bass linearity and integration with the lower midrange, further reducing artifacts of time domain smearing.
New Internal Cabinet Structure
The newly sculpted upper enclosure now includes a rear port; internally, revised cabinet geometries reduce enclosure-induced colorations.
New Grill System
The MAXX 2 upper module features a new two-piece grill and diffraction pad, which reduces grill-induced reflections. All grills on the MAXX Series 2 use the Alexandria pin-styl grill hardware, making the grills more secure, consistent, and sonically inert.

"But here and now, to my tastes, the Wilson Audio
Specialties MAXX Series 2 stands alone at the summit of overall sonic
performance. Given the number of audio critics - and, perhaps more
tellingly, audio manufacturers - who use the MAXX 2 as their
in-house evaluative reference, I know I am not alone in that judgement.
The MAXX 2 really is that good." Read More

" Having heard the MAXX2s in many different venues, every one of them
larger than my room, I knew what they were capable of achieving. I just
didn't expect to get the full effect in my room. Boy, was I surprised.
My usual assortment of listening pals, ranging from casual audiophiles
to name-brand mastering engineers, all reacted similarly on hearing the
MAXX2s reproduce whatever recording they played first: laughing and
cursing, cursing and laughing, expletives not deleted." Read More

"No
audio product...has revealed more of what's happening on each recording
than the MAXX 2. . . Would I buy MAXX 2s? Absolutely. They are the most
significant product I've written about in my eight years as an audio
reviewer." Read More
