Revolutionary new Bose lifestyle systems
In addition to delivering remarkable music & theatre performance from speakers small enough to fit it the palm of your hand, the new Bose ® Lifestyle ® 38 & 48 DVD home entertainment systems can digitally store and organize up to 340 hours of music, and then allow you to enjoy this music in up to 15 rooms.
There are three unique Bose technologies which set the Lifestyle 48 and 38 systems apart from all the other small speaker packages we've seen.
- Consider your main room. The size, shape, textures, furniture, and construction all affect the sound you hear. The ADAPTiQ system, found only in Lifestyle® DVD systems, analyses your rooms accoustics, then adjust the Lifestyle ® system for optimum performance in your individual listening environment.
- Meet your own personalised Digital DJ. The uMusic™ intelligent playback system allows you to store hundreds of hours of music internally, and access it all at the touch of a button, without having to hunt through your entire cd collection to find the disk you want. While you're enjoying your favourite music, uMusic listens to your music and learns your preferences. You can then ask it to play back a random selection of the music you enjoy. No more searching for CDs or deciding which tracks to listen to. Whatever mood you're in, the uMusic system is ready with just the songs you want to hear. We've been very impressed by just how well this system works.
Bose ® link enables you to enjoy this same quality of music in as many as 14 additional rooms, even outdoors. You can have independent volume control in each room, as well as access to two different audio streams from the same Lifestyle® system. So for example, the kids could be enjoying a movie in fabulous surround sound in one room, while you're enjoying your favourite music in another.
Best of all, these are the best sounding 'Lifstyle' systems we have heard.

Plinius CD 101
One of the most exciting product launches of the last twelve months would have to be the long awaited Plinius CD101. Aesthetically the CD101 matches the distinctive styling of the new generation Plinius amplifiers. Sonically it's a little stunner. After comparison with the overseas competition, we're convinced this piece of Kiwi engineering is a world beater, but don't take our word for it.
"Soundstaging is excellent - stretching beyond the speakers and reaching forward into the space in front of and around the listener. The player's resolution is also to marvel at, but unlike so many other highly detailed CD players, there is no edge or fussiness about the presentation, instead there is an almost liquid quality to the sound. Everything is quite unforced, both neutral and natural." Brent Burmester - Audio Enz
"Music is reproduced with a naturalness that is rare with digital source components." Michael Wong - AudioEnz
"Voices were incredible. They seemed more audible and easier to hear the words than before, without being pushed forward in the mix." Michael Jone - AudioEnz
If you're running Plinius amplification, or in the market for a superb mid level cd player, you owe it to yourself to hear this wonderful New Zealand design.
Get Closer to the excitement, get further from the frustration.
Our home entertainment systems have become progressively more sophisticated. Unfortunately they have also become more complicated. Most of us are now faced with a Plethora of remotes, surround modes, & settings from which to select. Even if we are comfortable with the proper operation of our system, often other family members struggle.
Imagine if you could have one remote that controlled everything. A remote you could tell what you wanted, and it would know exactly how to do it. Lets say you have a home theatre system, and you listen to CD's & Radio, and watch DVDs & SKY TV for example. Imagine being able to press an icon on your touch screen remote labelled "Watch DVD", Your DVD player turns on, your home theatre receiver turns on & chooses the best surround sound mode for the particular DVD you want to watch, and your Plasma turns on & selects the correct channel for viewing DVD's. Now your touch screen remote displays only the controls you need, the controls for you DVD player & volume. Say you now want to watch SKY. Simply push the icon "finish watching DVD" then "Watch SKY". Your DVD player turns off, your SKY decoder turns on, your receiver selects the right input for you to hear SKY & selects the best surround sound format to listen to SKY, your Plasma screen selects the right input to view SKY, and your touch screen remote now display only the controls you need to enjoy SKY. You will see your SKY controls including the actual SKY channel logos such as "CNN" "BBC" "SKY Movies", not just channel numbers, and volume.
The beauty of a properly programmed learning remote are four fold. Firstly you can control your entire system from one hand piece. Secondly because all selection of inputs & settings is controlled by the remote you will always get the best performance from your system. No more wandering what mode you should really be in. Thirdly, every one in the family can enjoy the system to it's full potential because it's so incredibly simple to use. All you have to do is tell it what you want to do and it will take care of the rest.
Fourthly, no more coming back to find all your system systems settings have been inadvertently changed by some one trying to get your system to work when they don't really know how...particularly valuable for those of us who have children or grandchildren!
We carry a number of options from various manufacturers, but our personal favourites are the Marantz hand pieces. They are rugged, have good range, and are the simplest & most enjoyable to use.
RC9200 $3799 Large colour touch screen, can control any number of devices, more memory than you will ever need, customisable & programmable via laptop, uses "IR" & "RF" so can work from any where in your home, not just "line of sight"
RC5400 $1599 This is our most popular unit. Other than having a "grey scale" screen rather than colour & no "RF" for whole house use the RC5200 will do pretty much everything the RC9200 at less than half the price. "RF" can be added for an additional $599
RC1400 $299 These units have an LCD screen so you can see exactly what you are controlling but aren't a touch screen device. They will still allow you to learn everything into one remote & use "macro's" like "Watch DVD"
To keep things as simple as possible for you we are offering FREE programming up to the value of $200 on all RC9200 and RC5200 remotes during November. That means all you have to do is sit back and enjoy your system to it's full potential, all controlled from one super easy to use hand piece.
Have your say.
